Trumpets: Don't become the worst version of yourselves. Lead or perish!
We've done it!
Those of us who distrust government, hate P.C., are tired of being blamed for everything and failed government policies and politicians, just threw a wrench into the Beltway Mechanism and threw it off its tracks.
Now comes the scary part: We can't complain anymore. Now we have to govern.
As a journalist and columnist, I've been railing against the machine for more than 20 years now, totally convinced that these two parties are part of the problem. It was the so-called Republican Revolution of the 90s that pushed me from conservative to anarchist, Secessionist, state splitter, and generally grumpy old man.
But this time is different. About half the voters in America just sacrificed their party on the alter of American Politics to make a few points. Points they wanted to express for decades but had no outlet.
There is a difference between complaining and leading and we Republican ex-pats now have great power and with that comes great responsibility.
We have the House, the Senate, the president and soon the Supreme Court.
There are no excuses. As someone who supported my Trump Suicide Pact, I implore my fellow revolutionists to be the best version of themselves.
Let's not get bogged down in petty grievances, revenge, gloating. Let's reign in the ugliest rhetoric, let's not be exactly what we've been accused of being. Instead, we need to stick to the plan, as Newt once said, "Stay in the Box."
Illegal Immigration, drastic reduction of federal powers, restoration of middle class jobs, review of federal contracts, strengthening our position in international affairs, states rights, education reform, welfare reform and, by social pressure, the elimination of ghastly P.C. that stifles heated, necessary, frank discussions about our problems, political and social.
We do not need to waste time and focus on prosecuting Hillary Clinton. We do not need to waste time and focus on what bathroom people use, or punishing people for burning U.S. flags, or Black Lives Matter, or college campus sex scandals, etc.
Those problems will solve themselves as long as we focus on things that matter.
My position is simple: I will not tolerate much deviance from Trump's promise for his first 100 days. As enthusiastically as I supported his bizarre traveling show, I have no patience for another boondoggle.
And I hope supporters of Republican Governors, Senators, Representatives etc. slap them into reality if they continue to act like Democrats with conservative rhetoric.
I seriously believe if we do not act like leaders, like the Americans of decades past who made this the beacon of democracy for the Free World, we will go the way of Rome and Greece.
We are teetering on the edge of history, my fellow Americans. Will we be the best versions of ourselves and become a milestone for history? Or will we get bogged down in dogma and social media screeds and revenge and boasting and fade away?
I do believe this: If America as we know it fails; if we lose our place in the world; we will slip into another Dark Age that will be far different from the last one.
Western Civilization leads the world for a reason: We put value in the individual. And the best of Western Civilization puts the individual above the government. If America fails, who else in The West can or will lead?
Scary to think about.
Now, let's focus and finish and see where we are in 8 years.
