Why disarming Americans is preposterous
Dear Liberals,
There are many literally fatal flaws in this fantasy of yours:
1. Many LEOs, National Guardsmen and Military officers have sworn NOT to disarm law-abiding citizens and, in fact, would side with them in an armed insurgency. (It is ironic and foolhardy for Liberals who claim to hate the military and cops think they will be protected by them)
2. You are grossly underestimating the zeal with which millions of Americans will use to protect their rights to own weapons.
3. Frankly, regardless of politics, it is simply impractical without a NAZI-Stalin type of slaughter.
According to the FBI, there are now 101 firearms for every 100 Americans. Last year alone, 12 billion bullets were sold. Only 1 billion are accounted for. That leaves 11 billion in personal armories. That's from just one year. Of the 126 million residential dwellings in the United State, 41 million have Registered weapons in the home. Those are registered. The number of illegally owned and/or unregistered weapons is considered to be double that figure. Every time the Left even mentions gun control, more people join the NRA and other shooting organizations AND they go out and buy even more weapons and ammo.
Two other issues: These gun laws you weep for have been on the books for decades at the federal and state levels. (Ironically, the states with the toughest laws have the highest gun violence rates.) The Florida shooter broke at least five state gun laws. His parents broke at least two.
So, politics or not, unless you want another Sherman's March To The Sea battleground with the Interior States of America, you should choose another hill to die on, literally.
Last thing: The vast majority of people who own arms in urban areas are already criminals who are already pissed off, cruel and looking for a reason to shoot anyone who threatens their lifestyle.
Gang members in inner cities and well-trained rural hunters, Klansmen and Neo-NAZIs. And most Liberals can't even open a can of beans.
