West Shore Volunteer Library News
October Library Volunteer of the Month
Donnie Slaten Underwood Although born in Arkansas, my heart belongs to Montana. I moved to the Rollins community six years ago and one of my first stops was to check out the library. I left so impressed with the all-volunteer concept, that I joined up on the spot. The library became my place to make friends and feel a part of the westshore community.
I love the opportunity to work with children and books which are inherent in my opinion. As a former teacher, I particularly like my time at the Friday morning story and craft time. I truly believe that books in the hands of children have the power of opening new worlds to them. Books certainly did that for me. This need to make our books accessible to more children, brought about my delivering family bags of books to the children at Dayton School. I will continue the program this term as well. I joined the WSC Library board two years ago. I am usually at the front desk on Monday mornings and would love to have you visit our library. People usually say, “They don’t talk like you here, do they?”

Support our all-volunteer library
Just as many hands keep West Shore Community Library open by volunteering every day, many are also writing a check. Our Stay Home with a Good Book Mail Campaign to date has netted (after expenses) over $6000. Combined with the profit of $5437 from the Library Lovers Event in February, our Library Friends continue to support our Library! Our fundraising total to date for 2017 is $11,440. To meet our annual budget of $44,000 (to pay rent, utilities, and all other expenses) we need your help. If you have contributed, thank you! If not, please stop by your library or mail your contribution to the address below. Of course, if you have questions about fundraising or our budget, please contact our treasurer.
