1) Leslie Knuth is retiring from the food bank. Going away party Tomorrow.
Wow, this is the end of an era. Leslie is retiring after many many years of volunteer work in our community. This is a very difficult notice to write because I simply do not have the wordsmith skills to describe even a fraction of the wonderful work she has done in service to the West Shore. Clearly she will be sorely missed.
She is heading off to California in October, but the luncheon party in her honor is this Saturday, (tomorrow), from noon to 4. It will be at the RV Park in Lakeside. The lunch is $7, desert is $1. Everyone is invited. Come on down and wish her well.
2) Blues Cruise on Saturday. (Tomorrow)
The Flathead Valley Blues Society is hosting a Blues Cruise Saturday. Leaves the Lakeside dock on the Far West at7PM and returns ???. get tickets @ www.FlatheadValleyBlues.org.
3) Flathead Lake Biological Station Research Cruise. July 10
Join FLBS researchers for appetizers, beverages, music and an overview of Flathead Lake ecology and the FLBS Research and Monitoring program. The Far West is hosting this afternoon cruise to one of the Flathead Lake Biological Station’s monitoring sites. Cost is $50/person. Proceeds benefit the FLBS Research and Monitoring Program. Reservations are required, since limited space is available on the tour boat. Meet at the dock in Lakeside.
4) West Shore Community Library Summer Speaker Series July 12

“Wolves on Blacktail” July 12, 7:00 pm West Shore Community Library, 100 Bierney Creek Rd Lakeside.
5) 29th Annual Lakeside Fair is next Saturday, July 14!
The community club has been accepting donations for several weeks now and the haul has been amazing. (Donations still being accepted). You are definitely going to want to shop this event. All the proceeds go towards community service projects. Doors open at 9AM, sale ends at 3.
6) Setting up the fair’s outside tents: (July 13)
If you or someone you can recruit is able bodied and would like to lend a hand, we need several men to help in the erection of the tents at the elementary school Friday evening, (July 13), at 6 pm. Some early volunteers will be needed to meet there at 5:15 to pull the tents and supports from storage and bring them to the school grounds so construction can start at 6. Please call me, (Dan), at 871-5548 or email me at beneschd1@gci.net.& let me know if you can be on the 5:15 team or the 6:00 team. The tent set up is a critical need. All hands on deck!
We could also use a few more volunteers for the parking detail. There are 3 shifts of 2.5 hours each.
7) My investor pool is looking to buy homes in the area. Prefer under $300k.
I will make this quick: We are in the market to buy a few homes under $300k. 2 bedroom minimum, 3 or more bedrooms preferred. Location not critical. If it has ½ acre or more of land that is a big plus. We pay 97% of appraised value, buy “As Is”, AND PAY ALL CLOSING COSTS! Requires owner financing for three years, then we re-fi and pay it off. Raw land and larger homes will be considered, but must have owner financing for 5 years. Dan 871-5548
Well, that’s it for now. Plenty more is happening locally besides this, but I just don’t have the time to write it all down and get the word out in a timely fashion.
Blessings
Dan Benesch 871-5548
